The Nun of Hell

Les Méditations Postérieures

You have wandered in the Tower of Torments for long enough to presume that there is no way out. At first, you did not notice anything. But as you were going through its closet stairs and wide corridors, you started to feel a presence. A shadow was following you from a distance, silent and frightful like death. From afar, as you glanced furtively over your shoulder, you saw his straight black hair, then his dreary shroud-like face and purple lips.

You escaped the flying kettle ; that was not to face such an apparition ! Yes, Melancholy has been following you for a while. From now on, she will pursue you until the end.

It would have been better to confront your fear in your own time. The pilot got back to his vessel and took off straight after you indicated him that you would do without his assistance.
You saw the aircraft go up in the air and fly away at supersonic speed. At this precise moment – why ? – regret saw you whine a tear.

But you chose the easy way out. From now on, dodgy shortcuts will be your ultimate horizon. And you must at all costs avoid an encounter with that gothic puppet, so ludicrous that it is pathetic ! For, without catching up on you, without constraining you to a direct encounter, the shadow has nonetheless appeared to be more and more insistent.

Skimming the walls at first, moving behind columns not to be seen too much, it started to progress less and less discreetly, more in the open behind you. Now it follows in your footsteps and you see more clearly its gloomy face.

How will you manage to escape this pallid crow ? To run away ! That is now the only thing you know. And you start running frantically without watching what is in front.
